In order to achieve this, Porsche Restoration Panels is producing sheet metal / alloy parts themselves and our latest addition is the Porsche 911 rear decklid. Especialy for your 911S, RS, RSR or just to loose weight on your classic 911 (1965 till 1989).

For the production of the 911 rear decklid we have taken an all new approach. One that takes quality to a new level, normally only reserved for mainstream carparts.

We have scanned several original, unmolested 911 rear decklids and used this 3D file to produce upper and lower dies out of aircraft alloy. After pressing the decklids in the OEM-correct alloy and thickness, the 3D programm is used for lasercutting all the holes and apertures, leaving us with a 100 % original and reproducable part of unrivaled quality.

this moment no one is offering the 911 alloy reardecklid reproduction in this high quality. The few being sold are mostly handmade and using the wrong material or thickness, which gives the term "lightweight" a whole other meaning.

We decided to start with producing a batch of 10 alloy rear decklid innerframes, as we have been asked by several people who wanted to use it on their RS ducktail.

These 10 have just been pre-pressed at 200 tons and will now be lasercut and then pressed again at 800 tons to get the finished part. They will be done at the end of July 2010 and will be available as just frames or complete ducktails. The innerframe weights a mere 800 grams as per original.

After the 10 innerframes, we will start pressing the alloy outerskins aswell, so that we can finally produce a full alloy rear decklid, exactly to factory specifications. The dies for the outerskin have already been CNC-ed and the test-pressings look very promising. We expect to have the full decklids done mid September 2010.
